Homework is an integral part of First Grade.  We develop good habits and practice skills.  We send home BABAR books four nights a week, spelling 5 words a week and math pages that practice work introduced in our Everyday math books or lessons.  Make sure that homework has a comfy space with materials that are needed (such as pencils, crayons and scissors).   Homework may need guidance and helpful questions by you the parent.  Do not do the work for your child-guide and encourage it.  You will be amazed by the progress of your First Grader.  Post and celebrate success on the fridge.  Play down failure- "you'll get it with more practice".  Tell your child your own observations:   "I noticed that you are really getting counting by tens, you must be proud!"
